Nothing evokes the holidays like the magic of Christmas lights and visitors will be charmed as the San Diego Bay comes alive with thousands of twinkling lights at the 45th annual San Diego Bay Parade Of Lights events on December 11th and 18th.
This popular community event draws more than 100,000 spectators out to the San Diego bay front to enjoy a spectacle of boats donned in twinkling lights, seasonal colors and fun decorations. This year's event celebrates the historic San Diego Zoo and more than 80 participating boats will be liberally decorated from top to bottom to reflect the theme: "It Began With A Roar - San Diego Zoo Celebrates 100 Years."
After the fun is over, be sure to attend the San Diego Bay Parade Of Lights awards dinner at Tom Ham's Lighthouse on January 10th at 6:30pm. The best-decorated boats will be awarded with trophies during the celebratory event.
The San Diego Bay Parade Of Lights route starts at Shelter Island, proceeding past local landmarks like Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, and the pier at Cesar Chavez Park, before heading down to the ferry landing at Coronado. The San Diego Bay Parade Of Lights begins at 5pm at Shelter Island on December 11th and 18th. Entry to the event is free.
